This is the last part – time to complete it all by adding the enclosure! For this part you will need all the 3D printed pieces, as well as the joystick cover. Congratulations! You have completed the operator interface kit!
Connect the display and the keypad together by inserting the M headers on the keypad to the F headers on the display. The rows should line up, and all pins should be connected.
Here is a closer look at the header connection between the two boards.
Here is what it looks like from the back.
Obtain the front display enclosure and the display lift piece. Remove the display from its headers.
Apply hot glue to the display lift piece.
Attach the display lift piece with the hot glue onto the circuit board. The position should be similar to as seen in the photo, where the long edge of the display lift piece goes along the headers, with the nub sticking upwards. The purpose of the display lift piece is to keep the display flush, and not become angled.
Insert the display into its headers again. With the display lift piece in place, the display will not insert all the way. As long as it is not falling out, then this is okay. See the photo for the gap that is alright and will still function.
Flip the board and ready the front display enclosure.
Insert the board into the enclosure by leading with the top edge. Angle it so that the components can fit into place. Then lower the bottom edge of the board into the enclosure, until it is secure.
Obtain the back enclosure. Use the 4x M3 8mm screws to fasten the back enclosure to sandwhich the circuit board and front enclosure. Then, flip it over.
Congratulations! You have enclosed the display half of the operator interface.
Obtain the front enclosure keypad piece, the 6 button pieces, and the joystick piece.
Insert the 6 buttons into the holes on the keypad front enclosure.
Insert the keypad circuit board leading with the bottom edge first. The mode switch nub needs to go through the slot at the bottom.
Then, follow with the upper edge, until it is secure and clicks into place.
Obtain the back enclosure. Use the 4x M3 8mm screws to fasten the back enclosure to sandwhich the circuit board and front enclosure. Then, flip it over.
Attach the joystick cover onto the joystick shaft.
Congratulations! You have enclosed the keypad half of the operator interface.
Attach the display and the keypad together.
Congratulations! The operator interface is complete!
